Our team

Oxford Pres has a growing staff team, two elders (Andy Young & David Pfeiffer), and two elders elect (Tom Hutchings & Neil Martin).

Staff

Rev. Andy Young – Minister, Elder & Trustee

Andy moved to Oxford with his family four years ago to plant Oxford Pres. He is married with four children and enjoys spending time with his family, reading, good coffee and hanging out with anyone who can bear his company. A jack-of-all sports and master of none, Andy has been consistently overlooked for selection for the Welsh National Rugby team. He is a sinner saved by the grace of God in Jesus Christ.

Robin Price – Women’s Worker

Robin was born and raised in the southeast United States and spent several years as a teacher before devoting her life to ministry. Prior to arriving in Oxford in March 2021, she served as a missionary in Ukraine for 7 years (though she admits to never quite mastering the Russian language). Robin has a passion for God’s Word and loves studying the Bible with others. She enjoys long conversations, long walks, listening to audiobooks, and decorating her home…and she is currently trying to learn the ukulele. Though she doesn’t consider herself crafty, Robin occasionally tries her hand at creative projects with some degree of success, but the joy for her lies in sharing the experience with others and learning alongside them.

Rev. Dr. Neil Martin – Associate Minister, Elder & Chair of Trustees

Neil and his family moved to Oxford in 2014 where he completed his doctorate in New Testament in 2019. In his 20s and 30s he suffered a long period of debilitating illness and his experience of God’s reality and indispensability in that time still drives his passion for gospel ministry, especially among students. Neil now serves as Research Associate in New Testament at Keble College and directs a ministry called B-Less mobilising Christian graduate students to support and reach out to undergraduates. Neil is married to Ruth and they have 4 children and a very furry dog. He enjoys drawing things, making things, and playing guitars of all kinds.

Rev. Alberto Solano – Assistant Minister

Prior to moving to Oxford, he and his family lived in Mexico where he was born and raised. He is married to Kathy and has 3 children. Alberto loves talking about anything related to Latin America, especially history, politics, and art. He is currently reading for a DPhil in Theology at Keble College.

Ruth Martin – Administrator

Ruth grew up in rural Africa and, before having children, worked as a specialist nurse in London where she was involved in a church plant. She is married to Neil and together they have experienced God’s faithfulness through periods of illness and loss. She loves following Jesus, home-schooling their four wonderful children, and having people pop in for a cup of tea.

Elders

In addition to Andy and Neil:

David Pfeiffer – Elder & Trustee

David is married to Bethan and they have 4 children. He is a minister at Whaddon Road Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Cheltenham and has been in Cheltenham since 2012. He enjoys reading biography, playing football and cricket, watching sport, holidaying with his family, studying the Old Testament and good food. He is very thankful for God’s patience with him (and his wife’s!)

Tom Hutchings – Elder & Trustee

Tom is Chaplain of a boarding school in the Cotswolds. Before moving to Oxfordshire, he served in ordained ministry in the Midlands and central Cambridge. He is married to Andria with whom he has four children. Working at a small school means he’s willing to have a go at most things, which has led (among other things) to some very bad sporting experiences (for all concerned).

Trustees

In addition to Andy, David, Neil, and Tom:

James Horgan – Trustee

James can’t quite believe he’s just moved to Oxford. He was involved in the first EPCEW church plant there nearly 30 years ago. He is married with one daughter. He is a qualified patent attorney and works for a large pharmaceutical company. His hobbies include classical music, reading, modelling, board games and seeking the growth of faithful Presbyterian churches in England and worldwide.
